In law school, R.L. competed on the International Law Moot Court Team and served as research editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation.
Experience
Prior to launching R.L. Adams, PLLC in 2000, R.L. Adams was a partner in the Raleigh office of the statewide firm of Smith, Helms, Mulliss & Moore, LLP.
During his tenure with the firm, R.L. gained extensive experience in general civil litigation including products liability, commercial, contract, fraud, personal injury / wrongful death, premises liability and real estate litigation.
R.L. Adams began his legal career as a Judge Advocate in the United States Army from 1983 to 1988.
As Chief of Administrative Law for the 82 Airborne Division, he analyzed regulatory compliance issues, prepared supporting legal opinions, and served as ethics counselor for senior officers.
Education
As Trial Counsel for the Wiesbaden Legal Office in the Federal Republic of Germany, he prosecuted courts martial and adverse administrative proceedings and taught classes on military justice and law of war.
As a member of the teams defending manufacturers and physicians in silicone breast implant and artificial heart valve cases, R.L. cultivated his deep expertise in
litigating complex technical, scientific, and medical issues,
examining expert witnesses, and
deposing contentious witnesses.
